I have some new excuses.
For one, the program I use to compose posts, wbloggar, somehow became corrupted and my epic X Games wrap up was lost. So, just forget I ever said anything about it.
Secondly, to be honest, I'm bored of this blog. Just writing my random day to day stuff is occasionally fun, but I really find no joy in making myself write. My favorite posts have been writing about what others have written and my love of this new medium, but my enjoyment of being a passive reader far outweighs the satisfaction so far in doing it myself.
Sure, I could make it easy on myself and just rant about all my pet peeves, but I'd like to keep it positive around here. I could write my deepest fantasies and darkest thoughts, but that would be better reserved for a secret blog. I could just recount my past adventures in Hollywood and beyond... but, I feel then like I'm bragging and a bit of a dick.
Some inspiration comes when I think of developing a themed blog. I almost started one on the election called "Cock Fight", and even what I think is a pretty cool template for it, but put all of my efforts into the Edge of Allegiance blog instead. Besides, every other blog out there is already saying what I'd say about my disdain for Bush and even larger frustration with unfair reporting and political spin. Alas, I contemplate even a short term blog about and leading up to Halloween, my favorite holiday.
And then I realize that this blog is a good way to keep my five loyal readers abreast of what I'm up to. And some upcoming activities may keep this afloat...
For one, I'm supposed to start my first meeting next Sunday with Group 101 Films, which is sort of an AA for procrastinating wanna be filmmakers. A few hundred people get divided up into teams of ten each, and you're responsible for meeting with the team once a month to show them you've made a new short film. One short a month for six months, based on a theme some mentors give to you at the previous meeting. They offer nothing else but the feeling of "accountability"... so, I'm already calling my filmmaker friends warning them I'll be cashing in favors soon.
And, of course, I plan on finding a way of making at least one short about blogging...
Now, excuse me while I try and find more excuses not to write.

Sultana news...
A few days ago I was emailed by a producer with Actuality Productions who's putting together an episode of "Modern Marvels" on the History Channel, wanting to interview me for a segment on the Sultana Disaster - part of a larger episode on engineering disasters (the Sultana, a sidewheel steamboat, had a poorly maintained boiler explode, resulting in the deaths of over 1600 passengers). More later...
Strife in the world...
Its been too long and too few excuses.
In reality, I've been slowly composing a blog about my X Games adventures, but still...
But the current drama in bloggerland is what brings me to write this time. Besides my recent inactivity...
1) Anti and Raymi, two of the most consistent and original bloggers on the net have been at each other's throats. These ex-lovebirds who met online, are now having an ugly break up online... and, in spite of what you might think, it does not make for good reading... which is why I'm not going to bother posting links.
2) Kenneth Cowan's blog is down completely a few days after he posted a disclaimer on his first page that his pics and writing might offend certain individuals. Supposedly, this trust fund kid's mother took issue with the blog and well... if you're a fan and want to offer him some support, I think you can email him at getyourkicks@kennethcowan.com
3) If you think I'm bad, young, bed ridden blogger Lorenzo Benzo has gone without a post in nearly three weeks. On the bright side, her last post has lots of pics of her... and she just agreed to be added to my Friendster. I encourage everyone to flood her comments with demands she post much, much more often.

A quick post from X Games
Love the job, but the hours suck. Showed up at 6:45am, via the subway and a transfer to rollerblades, and now at 10pm I'm hoping I can get some answers to some questions before we open tomorrow, so I can get a few hours rest.
My gig on this is some sort of event producer title, which is a hefty inflated coordinator position but with a really, really long leash. I'm overseeing the festival element called X Fest, with a vendor village, interactive skate park, and music stage. All sorts of stuff happening in between, like autograph signings with pro boarders, bladers, BMXers, etc., and a "learn to DJ" clinic, so anyone can walk up and learn how to scratch and play to a crowd. I'm here to make sure it all works, hire a few people to man some of the areas and train them on what to do, interface with the competition announcers, on site radio station, folks working the jumbotron graphics, and anyone else I can tell to promote the area or any "exciting" developments. More stuff later...
